The HPR retinoid (SymRenew®, Symrise)
Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate is an ester of retinoic acid that the supplier describes as binding directly to the skin's retinoid receptors, without the conversion steps retinol needs. A study published in 2025 evaluated a serum with 0.1% HPR and four peptides in 42 women over 16 weeks, compared with a single fractional laser session; a blinded grader saw improvements in wrinkles, fine lines and texture (Kruger et al., 2025). It used a different formula and different peptides, so its results don't transfer to this cream.

SYN-TC® peptides (dsm-firmenich)
Three synthetic peptides that, in the supplier's laboratory studies, increased the formation of collagen types I, III, IV, VII and XVII (dsm-firmenich). In the cream they partner the retinoid for their role in firmness.

The cream base
Squalane and emollient esters soften the skin, while a beta-glucan derivative and soluble collagen form a hydrating film at the surface. Coenzyme Q10 (Ubiquinone), a fat-soluble antioxidant found naturally in skin, lowered oxidation levels in the epidermis when applied topically (Hoppe et al., 1999); vitamin E accompanies it in the formula.

I developed CORRECT Night Cream to unite two complementary directions of targeted cosmetic care: HPR retinoid for the look of fine lines and texture, and SYN-TC® peptides for skin firmness. The base was just as important as the active system, so I selected squalane, beta-glucan and soluble collagen for a comfortable finish. It is a deliberate evening treatment, not a product to rush into daily use.

How to use

In the evening, on clean, completely dry skin, apply a pea-sized amount to the face and neck.
Avoid the eye contour, eyelids, corners of the nose, lips and irritated skin.
At first, use the cream 2–3 evenings a week, then increase the frequency gradually according to your skin's tolerance.
On the evenings you use the cream, do not apply other retinoids, strong exfoliating acids or scrubs.
Mild dryness or flaking can occur while your skin adjusts to the retinoid; both are common at this stage. If your skin needs more comfort, follow with a simple moisturizer; if irritation persists, reduce the frequency or stop using the product.
Every morning, use broad-spectrum sunscreen.

General warnings: For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes. In case of contact, rinse thoroughly with water. Discontinue use if irritation or redness occurs. Keep out of reach of children.

Questions about the formula

How is HPR different from retinol?

Retinol has to be converted by the skin, in several steps, into retinoic acid, its active form. HPR is an ester of retinoic acid that the supplier describes as binding directly to retinoid receptors. Both are retinoids and should be introduced gradually.

How do I introduce it?

Start with 2–3 evenings a week, then increase according to tolerance; some people can use it nightly, others prefer a few evenings a week. If redness or irritation persists, use it less often.

Can I use it with CORRECT AHA Night Cream?

Yes, on different evenings, once your skin is used to the retinoid. Don't apply both on the same night.

How is it different from the REBORN range?

CORRECT contains the HPR retinoid and is used only in the evening, introduced gradually. The REBORN range contains no HPR and can be used morning and evening: the cream relies on SymLift®, a complex that forms a fine film on application, while the serum pairs SymLift® with SYN-TC® peptides and coenzyme Q10.

Can I use it during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Because it contains a vitamin A derivative, don't use it during this time unless your doctor approves.
